A Little Halloween Crafting

I had picked up these vintage fire extinguisher holders at auction because I thought they had awesome potential… I sold about half of them “as is” (at Lucketts) so I decided it was time to dress a couple of them up for Fall!
They are painted pine and the smallest ones are 21” tall… I just love them!
Here is a “before” shot of them hanging out at Lucketts just waiting to be snatched up!
I’m using one of the many hurricane lamps I have on hand and my Silhouette machine to cut out some cute Halloween inspired vinyl…
This is the first piece I set up and have already “weeded”, as I am putting it on the front of the glass so there was no need to reverse the “Boo”.
Here it is after I applied it to the glass… which I would like to add is not so easy on a convex surface like these lamps, but I got it done…
I painted the fire extinguisher holders in Annie Sloan Chalk Paint “Barcelona”, which to me is the perfect shade of orange for Halloween… I then lightly distressed and waxed them.
I spray painted the outside of the lamp in flat black paint (two light coats) and then removed the vinyl. I cut out some chalkboard vinyl bats to apply to the back of the stand… I think they are so cute and as bonus you can write something on them… if you wanted to!
Here is another one I did but the skull & paint went on the inside of the lamp. I used the same process that I used on my decorative plates but I didn’t age the mirror paint. I think it needs some sort of “warning” above the skull but I haven’t quite decided yet… maybe “Beware”?
By the way I am using a LED candle in these… I would not recommend using a real candle as I am not sure that the paint would react well to the heat… so much safer this way anyway!
So I love them… what about you?
Thanks for stopping by and checking them out!
Until next time…
Linking up to these parties!
