Hi, my name is Susan and I’m a furniture hoarder… whew, now that I have said that I feel so much better! Anyway, I started this whole furniture refinishing and blogging business in 2011 and I have LOVED every minute of it! It’s not “easy” by any means but it allows me to utilize my creative side and meet lots of wonderful people… it is seriously my dream occupation! I have been refinishing furniture for myself for over 20 years but never gave any thought to doing this for others until my kids had gotten to the point that they didn’t need me as much… sad but true! So now I’m a stay at home mom and wife who has decided that fixing up and painting furniture is so much more rewarding than vacuuming and grocery shopping… my house is never quite as clean as I would like for it to be and there is furniture everywhere… but I couldn’t be happier! I hope you can come along on this journey with me!
You are brilliant! Thanks for sharing all your tips. Do you take lost causes on commission?

I was totally daring you to do it! That looks more like a little brother than a sister. So weird, i still look exactly like that, how is that possible? Ahhhh…. Memories I actually don’t really remember 🙂 I didn’t realize the work we were doing all our lives could have such a fancy description as “refinishing”. I have described it many times but have never chosen to use that word. I never knew you had such an amazing and brilliant imagination. I am in awe of your ability. You are amazing! I think you should make a beautiful sink stand next out of some old cabinet or chest. I just threw the gauntlet down! Love you!

I love your site, Susan! I’m always a fan of those who can refinish furniture by themselves. I’m so inspired by all your posts. Keep it up! 🙂

I love everything you have. I am in S. Calif. And I have been hording large pieces since Elvis was alive! But scaled down now that I live in a condo. I see you use Annie & CeCe. Have you ever used anything else or made your own chalk paint? I was wondering if I should even try to make mine? I don’t want to waste my time & supplies and have to start all over.
I hope to get out to VA next year.

Hey Barbara Ann! Thanks so much for loving my stuff… but one of these days I need to stop hoarding too! I don’t try to make my own, I don’t really think it is the same thing… I’ll just stick with what I know works for now!

Your work is really awesome. Do you sell your finished pieces? The claw foot drip front secaratary desk is so nice.

Thanks Vince, yes I do sell my pieces, some are commissioned and some are not. I don’t have a lot going on right now though.
