Curvy Claw Foot Chest

PURIST PLEASE AVERT YOUR EYES!

But I’m not sorry I painted this chest… well technically I only painted part of it so maybe only be a little mad if you are going to be mad at all

So this claw foot chest is very pretty the way I found it… but I thought it needed a little “something”…

BEFORE

This is what happened after I painted one coat of Pure White Annie Sloan Chalk Paint… the piece had been recently oiled with something (I could smell it, that’s not weird at all!) but I wanted to see how the chalk paint would react to the surface oil… this is what it did! Kind of cool…

And this is what I ended up with after sanding down the flaking… I just LOVE it! VERY chippy and rustic looking! I waxed it with CeCe Caldwell’s clear wax… which I am now obsessed with! Seriously try it if you have not!

I chose to leave the beautiful Birdseye maple drawer fronts original… (you’re welcome!) Don’t you just adore the curvy fronts too?!

Just check out this claw foot and original wood wheel!

I contemplated changing out the knobs but I do like the look of the original wood ones for this piece…

The top looks like the original maple veneer was removed, but they did a great job of refinishing it!

This chest is nice and low and I think it would make a great TV stand or accent piece! What do you think… do you like the BEFORE or the AFTER better? I just finished this piece and it is for sale in case you are interested!
