Lovely Twin French Bedside Tables

So I love the shape of these tables… they remind me of something from Alice in Wonderland… it’s those legs, they look like they could start walking right… is it just me that thinks so?

Anyway they are fabulous, solid and heavy bedside tables that need some updating!

Here you see the “lovely” patterned mirror in the door inset on the right and on the left side I have removed it already. The other picture is of the back of the door, just 6 small nails to remove the mirror and it was off!

Here they are all dressed up in Paris Grey Annie Sloan Chalk Paint, distressed, waxed and buffed!

I sprayed the hardware and the original wood door inserts in Heirloom white. I prefer them without the wood insert but leaving them in allows the new owner the choice to have them in or out based on their needs… they would be super cute with fabric too!

I completely removed the paint from the top and stained it in Dark Walnut and then waxed and buffed them… the tops came out beautiful!

I painted the grate inserts in Paris Grey as well… it’s a nice contrast to the white.

Oh yes, I almost forgot… they have cool little writing shelves too! I wanted to stencil “His” & “Hers” or “Mine” & “Yours” on each of the shelves, but I changed my mind at the last-minute… if I were keeping them or had a client for these I would love to do it… so cute! Or should I do it anyway?

Hope you enjoyed the beautiful “twins”! I’ve never seen a pair like them before… they are made by the Genova Furniture Company and other than that I can’t seem to source them… I know they are built well and are gorgeous nonetheless!

  9. These are stunning! I sure wish I could find such pretty pieces like this! I like the idea of putting words on the slide outs. I don’t think it would be that big of a deal to add them since they are usually tucked away from view. A cute little unexpected surprise, but it’s always good to play it safe.

  16. These are so awesome and I so need them in my livingroom! They would work perfect with my Victorian style sofa! The color is perfect and you’ve helped me decide on an antique dresser I plan to paint and use for a tv cabinet! Definitely stain the top and paint the bottom in a soft country blue. Thanks so much for sharing and being such an inspiration.

  27. I just happened upon this post through a google search of grey painted furniture images. I found a very similar pair of side tables at a thrift shop a few weeks ago and have been trying to decide what to do with them . . . something somewhat along these lines has been a consideration – not sure yet if I am sold on keeping the grates in mine or not. I’m curious though if you have a second – what method did you find to be most effective to totally remove the paint from the top? Thanks for hearing my comment.

      1. Awesome. Thanks for taking the time to reply – it does help. I was actually hoping that you would not come back and say you used stripper, so this is perfect. As I went to look at mine in the garage again after seeing your post/pictures – mine are not as ornate – but still have some really nice lines and are lovely and solid – looking forward to their transformation once I make up my mind! Thanks again, -I’ve browsed around some more and you provide some nice inspiration on your blog.

  30. These are beautiful – love how you have ‘finished’ these off and in answer to your question – yes I would definitely stencil “His” & “Hers” or “Mine” & “Yours” on each of the shelves. This would make them even more unusual 🙂
