Again I took “before” pictures… I’m on a roll!!! But the difference between the before and after in the pictures is so slight I almost didn’t post this!
Ok.. so in these picture’s she doesn’t look so bad.. and truthfully she’s not too bad off, but she was spray painted flat white and I’m just not having any of that! She also is having some veneer problems with the top and the front where the the applique is… she was showing her age the poor girl…
So I fixed the top veneer issues with some Gorilla Glue and clamps. I had to remove the front applique and the veneer under it in order to properly “fix” the veneer problem there. After sanding the wood, that was under the veneer I removed, I reattached the applique with wood glue and the original nails… worked like a charm! Hey, I think I’m getting the hang of this !
I also removed the paint off of the handles by soaking them overnight in a mixture of Ammonia and water. I then sprayed them in high gloss black.. super cute!
I painted (by hand, not spray!) the entire piece in a very light grey (paint is called Cabinet Coat by INSLX) and finished her off with an application of a black glaze in order to show off all of her details!! Check out my post on “A Delicious Buffet” for details on the paint, it’s a good read if I do say so myself..
Ok.. so here she is… Ta Dah! It’s a little anti-climatic isn’t it..?
Can you see the difference that the color and glaze make? Or does it look the same to you?
She REALLY is much prettier I promise you… and she feels like a dream!
Just check out those LEGS!!!
I love the appliques and beadwork… did I mention I have NOWHERE to put her!
Love the sexy curves on this piece… is she the “Beyoncé” of vanities… maybe?
OK, so are you digging her…. is she gorgeous or what? Or are you thinking “why did you bother painting her, she looks the same?” I HOPE you are not thinking that.. if so my pictures suck ‘cause she looks a million times better! It’s like taking off some nasty 1980’s lounge wear and putting on a 2012 LBD (that’s Little Black Dress ya’ll )…
Let me know anyway….. I can take the feedback, I think…
Thanks for stopping by! (I’m thinking of a new way of saying “until later” but nothing is coming to mind… I’ll ponder on it a little more!)
